Real Review - It's a great little cutter and I hope to get a new cutter head on it soon!

Prior to the launch of the Likcut S501, we conducted a survey on the question “What is the most important feature you would like to see in a vinyl cutter?” The majority of people cited “portability” as their top choice. Therefore, we wanted our first vinyl cutter to be portable and lightweight while still being professional.

With this in mind, on January 8th we received a review from a user in the US who commented that our S501 is more portable than our other vinyl cutter, and although it can't be used for very large projects, it's perfect for basic crafts. (In fact, the S501 is already capable of taking on some of the more challenging 3D projects, which we'll be covering in more detail in a subsequent blog post, so stay tuned!)

We appreciate the kind and helpful comments, and we're working on expediting the new tooling. So now it's time for the fourth installment of our Real Review!

Nice small cutter! >

I have a big cutter but wanted something more portable to use at the cabin. This is perfect! The bed is smaller, so I won’t be working on big projects but I hadn’t planned to. Not only is this great for traveling, it would be perfect for someone just getting into the hobby. I had it up and running in no time, and cut a little snowflake. (Oops on one end but that was my fault!)

The app is nice. It has a selection of free graphics to practice with. I really like that I can use it on my phone (or computer). Makes the whole travel plan so much better. The unit comes with some sample vinyl as well, a pen and a weeder. You will likely need more tools, but they have the basics covered.
It’s a little loud, but not horribly so. Seems to be every bit as fast as my big cutter.

The downside is that there does not seem to be replacement knives on the company site. Even on my big cutter, the knife needs replacing now and then. This looks like a proprietary design, so hopefully replacements are in the works. I did not take off a star for that, but will keep a watch for replacements and update here if I see them. I am assuming they would be available from their support, if needed.
